WHO MedNet – Use of services

MedNet is a restricted information service offered free of charge by the WHO Medicines Department. The WHO MedNet is operated by the WHO Medicines Department in collaboration with other technical departments and stakeholders who sustain its operations technically and financially.

If and when granted, access to and use of MedNet services are restricted to the authorized member only and for the intended use stipulated by MedNet and its community service administrators. Use of MedNet is subject to the acceptance of the below policies and code of conduct.

WHO MedNet Copyright policy

WHO MedNet is a collaborative project. Copyright of any material made available by the MedNet services is held by each community or service hosted by MedNet. Applications for reuse of materials and all other inquiries should be addressed to the relevant MedNet community or service administrator. Copyright in individual working documents and resources made available on MedNet and its services rest with the original publishers of these documents. The copyright-holders alone are responsible for the contents of their documents.

When granted, access to service(s) and use of information provided via MedNet are subject to the World Health Organization (WHO) Copyright and License agreement and the specific license agreements of the individual MedNet services. The information presented is protected under the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literature and Artistic works, under other international conventions and under national laws on copyright and neighboring rights. MedNet is committed to protecting your privacy as a member and visitor of this Web site and a user of its resources. Because of that, MedNet operates by the following principles. MedNet and its services are the owner of the information provided/collected on this Web site. Information Collection

When you request membership within the system, we will ask for information that personally identifies you. This information will include your name, location, and email address. This information will be provided to the system coordinators so they can create your account. Your personal details will be available in the contacts section of your MedNet service community and accessible only by your community members.

Your email address will be used as the primary channel for MedNet communicating alerts, news, discussions, new developments, and resources. MedNet generated email communication uses and is identified by its own WHO-owned email domain address.

At no time is communication with and within the system anonymous. Cookies

A cookie is a piece of data that is stored on a visitor's hard drive while they are visiting this Web site. We may utilize a short-lived form of cookie when you visit this site. For MedNet, a cookie is only used to identify one unique visitor from another visitor during a particular session. A session is the period of active site-use while that unique visitor is linked to our server. We may use cookie technology during a session as a tool to carry forward your input information during use of the system. No personally identifiable information is stored on the cookie. The cookie expires and is deleted from the visitor's computer as soon as they close their browser or if they are not actively browsing our Web site. Should a previous visitor to our Web site return for a new session, they will be issued a new cookie and in no way will they be recognized as a visitor from a previous web site visit or web session.
